Sports massage is form of massage therapy which incorporates deep tissue techniques, with the aim of reducing muscular tension, discomfort and pain. A common misconception is that you have to take part in regular physical activity to benefit from sports massage, but this is wrong!
Sports massage is suitable for everyone and can be used to treat a wide range of injuries and conditions such as muscle and tendon strains, ligament sprains, back pain, joint pain, tension headaches and muscular imbalances – whether these are caused by sporting or occupational situations the benefits are the same.
Each treatment will be individually tailored, and will incorporate the sports massage techniques, as well as other soft tissue techniques such as myofascial release, soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques (MET) and trigger point therapy (TPT).
It can be used as a simple maintenance treatment, pre and post event requirements or specific muscular pain and discomfort.
